From his house high in the hills of Andalusia, Stephen Windsor-Clive looks down on the coast of southern Spain and out towards Morocco. Every monring he taks a ferry to Tangier to work in his studio. Here he produces the subtle, graceful mosaics for walls, fountains, pavilions and vases, for which he is becoming known internationally.

He uses no machinery, and cuts the marble by hand, using techniques that would have been familiar to the Romans 2,000 years ago. 'There is fluidity and harmony to a handmade mosaic,' Stephen explains, describing his own fascination with the art of placing tiny peices of marble or glass into a design.
